Running a line directly over a branch union abrades the rope and damages cambium. A friction saver puts a wear surface between the two and reduces the friction the climber has to overcome on every ascent. Offered fixed and adjustable, in Arbor Flex, LDB Wear Safe, Jupiter and PLAID, with Notch Wear Safe aluminium rings, ISC steel rings or a 3-strand steel configuration.
Adjustable versions in 10' and 28" suit variable unions; fixed lengths are lighter and simpler if your anchors are consistent.
